Organisation and structure of the new council

4 June 2008

The first interviews for the new council started with the appointment of Corporate Directors. Service Director interviews and appointments followed. View the interactive structure chart of the new council to see photos and details of the appointed directors and to find out which positions are still to be filled.

19 March 2008

The first report went to the Implementation Executive on 19 March 2008. This report gave the Implementation Executive a context for making their decisions about the structure of the new council. This context included the goals and challenges facing the new council, such as working today with other public bodies as part of the Local Area Agreement, providing strong leadership, integration of district and county services, and others. Additional points included the risk that a radical new structure may distract and delay change, statutory factors affecting the structure, and the need to achieve savings.

15 April 2008

Following the Implementation Executive’s consideration of the initial report on this subject, a second report is being presented to the IE on 15 April 2008. This report describes the organisational structure that is recommended for the new council. The report also considers the point raised by members of the Executive about ‘silos’; assesses the implications for costs and savings; and describes the next steps. The views of the Implementation Executive will be reported to the County Council’s Cabinet on 22 April.
