Planning the Transition

All of the key information that is needed to start the Transition to One Council on a sound basis is brought together in the Towards One Council Programme Initiation Document (PiD). This document describes the key objectives and principles of the transition and conveys that information to all those involved in the transition process.

This updated PiD now includes much more detail on our approach and working principles. However it remains a working document and we still welcome any comments and suggestions.

What's happening when?

This timeline describes the different activities that will be taking place at different points in the transition. In order to be truly customer focused, the new authority will be built from the bottom up, and services will be redesigned after wide consultation with people who deliver and receive services. This means how services are grouped, managed and delivered may look completely different than they do now. Although the overall shape of the new organisation will become clearer as we move through the transition, its final form will not be finalised until the end of the process.
