Rumour Buster

Welcome to the One Council Rumour Buster.

At any time of major change, rumours do the rounds; ranging from the small insignificant rumour to rumours that are potentially damaging to staff and customers.

The purpose of the One Council Rumour Buster is to ensure you can find out the straight facts and get clarification on anything that you’ve heard through the grapevine.

We all have a personal responsibility to make sure we get our facts straight and to challenge and correct inaccurate rumours. To avoid the rumour mill going into overdrive during a time of substantial change for the five organisations we need your help.

If you hear of any rumours and you’re not quite sure of the true facts, then send us an e-mail at Rumour Buster. Let us know the rumour, we’ll find out the real answer and post the answer on the Towards One Council Website. It doesn’t matter where the rumour has come from, or how trivial it might seem, we’ll be very grateful that you’ve let us know what it is.

Together we can make sure that the facts are out there and we can reduce the worry and stress that comes from rumours and Chinese whispers.

Q. Is it true that Wiltshire College intends to relocate to the centre of town? - only they have perfectly adequate buildings, some fairly new, and it would be an appalling waste of ratepayers money when other services are being cut?

Wiltshire College is funded by the Learning and Skills Council, which is a national organisation. Across the Country the Learning and Skills Council are supporting the development and in re-development of College Campuses; in order to ensure that they are able to meet the national skills agenda in 21st Century facilities. Wiltshire College are part of this national programme and will be developing all their campuses over the next 5 years. We understand that final decisions are yet to be made on the development of the Trowbridge Campus, so we are unable to comment on whether the College will move to a town centre location. The College play's a pivotal role in the education and training of both young people and adults within our community; the development of its facilities, wherever they are located, will ensure our community continues to benefit both educationally and economically into the future.
